Subway Surfers Sydney – A Relaxing Beachside Endless Running Game

Subway Surfers Sydney is the 189th World Tour update (and 191st overall release) of the long-running endless running game from SYBO Games and Kiloo. Released on August 26, 2024, this version brings the game back to Sydney after many years, but with a fresher coastal setting, focusing more on beach culture than previous versions. The update adds two new surfers, Audrey and Billy Bean, along with new outfits for Taha and Rain, plus a new set of surfboards, such as Cook-Express and Veggie Velocity, accompanied by useful upgrades.

I just finished playing Subway Surfers Sydney, and I have to say this version feels much fresher than many recent World Tour releases.

Notable New Features

  1. Two new surf characters: Audrey and Billy Bean – both have a very "beach vibe" design, looking cool and fun.
  2. New outfits for Taha and Rain.
  3. Special surfboards: Cook-Express and Veggie Velocity (cute food and vegetable theme).
  4. New collectibles: starfish, vegetables, snacks… instead of just boring diamonds or coins.

Despite the new content, the core gameplay remains the same: endless running, dodging obstacles, collecting coins, and using power-ups at the right time.

Basic Controls

  • Move left or right to change lanes
  • Jump to go over trains and barriers
  • Slide to go under low obstacles
  • Tap to use the skateboard when things get complicated
  • Collect coins and power-ups along the way

Your Main Objective

  • Run for as long as possible
  • Avoid collisions with trains, signs, or anything else along the way
  • Collect coins to unlock items and improve your performance
  • Use power-ups when they are truly useful, not just because you have them
  • Try to break the previous record score each time you play

Tips I learned

  1. Staying in the middle lane is the safest option 70% of the time, especially when you first start running. Only change lanes when necessary.
  2. Don't be too greedy for coins. There have been times I almost died just trying to pick up an extra 5-6 coins. Better to miss out than to start over.
  3. Keep the Hoverboard on until you reach a really high speed (around 300-400m or more). Only then should you activate it for the most effective life-saving maneuvers.
  4. Power-up Score Booster and Magnet should be prioritized when you have a long combo chain, while Head Start is only worth using when you want to farm coins quickly.
  5. After about 7-10 plays, you'll start to feel the rhythm of the game. Your reflexes will then be much more natural than trying to look at the screen as fast as possible.
