Subway Surfers Hawaii – A Bright Tropical Run
After plenty of city stops around the world, Subway Surfers Hawaii heads somewhere warmer. Palm trees line the railway tracks, colorful buildings sit in the background, and the whole place feels sunny and relaxed—at least until the trains start approaching. The tropical setting gives the run a fresh vibe without changing the fast arcade gameplay that players already know.
This update was released on September 18, 2023, becoming the 173rd World Tour location and the 175th version of the game overall, developed by SYBO Games and Kiloo. Hawaii returns the series to a beach-style setting after several years, adding bright colors and island scenery to the familiar subway chase.
A new surfer joins the roster in this version. This update also introduces Hali, a DJ from the Rivals crew who steps in as a new playable surfer and brings a bit of rivalry with Fresh. Alongside Hali, players can unlock Tropi-Taha, a new outfit for Taha that complements the tropical theme.

Two new hoverboards were added as well:
Rave Rider – a Rivals-themed board featuring Double Jump and Smooth Drift upgrades
Flying Horse – unlocked through the Collections reward system
They don’t change the core gameplay much, but they give players new gear to unlock while pushing for higher scores.
Controls
| Action | Desktop | Mobile |
|---|---|---|
| Move left | Left arrow key | Swipe left |
| Move right | Right arrow key | Swipe right |
| Jump | Up arrow key | Swipe up |
| Roll under obstacles | Down arrow key | Swipe down |
| Activate hoverboard | Space | Double tap |
While running, you’ll see items scattered along the track:
Coins help increase your score and unlock new characters or boards
Power-ups like Jetpacks and Coin Magnets appear randomly
The longer the run lasts, the faster the game becomes
One mistake—maybe you mistime a jump or drift into a train—and the run ends instantly.
Little Hacks
A few small tricks can help your runs last longer:
Try staying in the middle lane so you can react to obstacles faster
Save hoverboards for the faster parts of the run
Don’t chase every coin if it puts you in danger
Look slightly ahead on the track, not just at your character
Short runs help you learn obstacle patterns
Nothing complicated here. Just keep running, dodge trains, grab coins when you can, and try to push that Subway Surfers Hawaii score a little higher each time.
